Centree ("we," "our," or "us") is a family storytelling application that helps you capture, preserve, and share your family's memories. We take your privacy seriously — your family's stories belong to your family.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile information those services provide (name and email).

Content You Create: Centree stores the stories, photos, audio recordings, family member profiles, locations, and objects you add to the app. This content is created by you and stored on your behalf.

Location Data: When you tag a story or memory with a location, we store that location information. We use coarse location (city-level) to help you tag memories. Location access is only used when you actively choose to tag a memory and can be disabled in your device settings.

Device Information: We may collect basic device information (device type, operating system version) for troubleshooting and ensuring compatibility.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Centree app:

• To create and manage your account
• To store and display your family stories, photos, audio, and other content
• To enable sharing between family members you choose to connect with
• To tag stories with locations on the interactive map
• To provide AI-guided story prompts personalized to your family
• To troubleshoot technical issues and improve app performance

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored using Google Firebase, a cloud platform operated by Google LLC. This includes:

• Firebase Authentication — for secure sign-in
• Cloud Firestore — for storing your stories, family tree data, and app content
• Firebase Cloud Storage — for storing your photos, audio recordings, and other media

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Your data is shared only in these limited circumstances:

• Family members you invite: When you connect with family members in Centree, they can view stories and content you share within the app. You control who you connect with.
• Service providers: We use Google Firebase to host and store your data. Google processes this data on our behalf under their data processing terms.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

5. Data Tracking

Centree does not use your data for cross-app tracking, targeted advertising, or data brokerage. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or analytics platforms that track you across other apps or websites.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your data:

• Access and edit: You can view and edit all your content within the app at any time.
• Delete your content: You can delete individual stories, photos, recordings, and family member profiles from the app.
• Delete your account: You can request complete account deletion by contacting us at support@centree.life. We will delete all your data within 30 days of your request.
• Permissions: You can revoke camera, microphone, photo library, and location permissions at any time through your device settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Centree is designed for families and may include content about children as part of family stories. However, accounts must be created by users aged 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Family members under 13 may appear as "soft profiles" created by a parent or guardian, but they do not have their own accounts or login credentials.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Family stories are meant to last — we will not delete your content unless you ask us to. If you delete your account, we will remove all associated data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase's built-in security rules, and secure authentication. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your family's information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
